Korean Full House Visit - Part 2

Picking up from yesterday, this is Young-Jae's (Rain's) bedroom.

I'm entering the gift shop. It was all Rain souvenirs. I was surprised that all the souvenirs were of Rain as he currently looks with shorter hair. I was looking for souvenirs from the drama and I wanted Rain to look like he did back in 2004. My Korean girlfriends said that Koreans always want the most recent look of their stars.


This is Han Ji-Eun's (Song Hye-Kyo's) bedroom.

Hairtail fish soup. The fish had tons of bones in it and I'm just too lazy to work that hard to remove them. Hellena showed us a way to do it easily. I was still nervous so she took the bones out for me.

We paid for the ferry ride on the way back. While waiting for the ferry, these bicycle dudes showed up. Their entire face and neck were covered up with handkerchiefs. Hellena told me that was to keep the sun off their face and neck. They still looked to me like they were ready to rob a bank. It as also pretty hot and humid so I would think this would have been uncomfortable especially waiting a half hour for the ferry.

Hannah bought some shrimp treats to feed the seagulls. But she couldn't resist eating a few herself.

Curt itching. That's a story in itself. I'll tell it tomorrow. Suffice to say, it's been a nightmare.

On the ferry ride, we feed the seagulls. I tried to get Hannah to hold on until a seagull plucked the shrimp treat but she got too nervous so she just threw them.

I ended up having about 5 or more seagulls pluck the treat from my fingers. The last one drew blood so that was it for me.

Curt and me. It was so much fun and we had a great time. If you ever have a chance to see the drama, do it! It's fantastic and is sure to get you hooked on Korean dramas. Tomorrow, I'll talk about the adventure getting home. It wasn't as easy as getting to the island.

Rumor around South Korea is that the screenplay has been written for the sequel to Full House (it took two years) and now they are in the process of casting. The Koreans are hoping the Rain and Song Hye-Kyo will reprise their roles. I'm not sure how a sequel will do but it would be a great asset to have the original cast members.

A Visit to the House Used in the Korean Drama "Full House." - Part One

On Saturday, the girls took us to the house that was used for the taping of the Korean drama "Full House." They knew I had been dying to see it ever since I had watched the drama. The house was built for this drama and now serves as a tourist attraction. The drama was a huge hit in Korea when it first aired in 2004 and also was a huge hit in Taiwan and Japan. The production company later sold the house to a Taiwanese company and the house draws a lot of Taiwanese and Japanese tourists.

The house is located on an island near the Incheon International Airport. It is a 10-15 minute ferry ride from Sammok Harbor. When we got to the city of Incheon, we caught the 710 bus. The girls were not sure where to get off so Hannah went and talked to the bus driver as he drove. He asked if she was with the foreigners which she replied that she was and because of that he deviated off his bus route and delivered us as close as he could to the ferry launch. Hannah was really surprised he did this just because we are foreigners. How is that for service?!!
When you arrive at the launch, you have to fill out a form with all the names in your party and put it into a box. This is for their records in case the ferry sinks. We didn't have to pay until the ride back. Hellena, using the internet, had found a taxi service that provided a driver to take us to the house. He charged 30,000WON ($30US).

Another baby on board. As a former lifeguard, I was alarmed at how close the dad held the baby to the railing. One time I thought he was going to hang the baby over the railing but he just held him near the railing. I still watched poised to dive in if necessary. I was surprised that they didn't require children to wear flotation devices but then I've never seen a child in a car seat. I have seen children and adults wearing flotation devices when they swim in the ocean. It just doesn't make any sense to me.

The cost to tour the house is 5000WON ($5US). The girls didn't want to go in so they sat in a patio area next to the house. Can you tell I'm excited? This is the front door. It is seen a lot in the drama.

The window that both Rain and Song Hye-Kyo cleaned during the drama. Rain had Song Hye-Kyo clean the house constantly in the drama. He also had pet names for her like "rice cooker" and "poultry."

The bathroom where both Rain and Song Hye-Kyo would brush their teeth. They had quite a few scenes where Rain and Song Hye-Kyo would be brushing their teeth. For the taping of the drama, they removed the mirror that is located above the sinks.



Funny, but there was no toilet in the bathroom. In fact, we didn't find one in the whole house. But there is a public one across the street.
