More Maedeup

This was the new knot we made at maedeup class two weeks ago. I forgot to ask what it was so I still need to do that. It took a long time to complete!

We also made this pin with four Sebeolgamgae Maedeups that we had made in a previous class.

This is a necklace we made featuring the Seokssi Maedeup. I had these cool beads that matched so I used them in my necklace design. The maedeup teacher and fellow classmates really liked the addition of the beads. One student even said that she was going to copy me. I was really flattered because she is one the girls who are really good at maedeup.

A close up of the maedeup.

This week we learned the Sunnabi Maedeup which is the male butterfly knot. It was a tough knot but they all are now. Next week is the last class of Session 2 of maedeup. I'm the first non-Korean to get this far. Session 3 starts in two weeks. I have learned about 20 knots now. The tricky part is learning the Korean names. I know a few and I thinking about making flashcards to learn them all. Part of the test for certification is to name all 30+ knots by their Korean names.

I also found out there is a Maedeup Museum in Seoul. Oh joy! It's free and I'm going to visit it real soon. There also is a Korean Cultural Center and I want to visit that also. Koreans also are known for beautiful embroidery and I want to see some of it in person. I had no idea how much talent was in South Korea!

It's a beautiful day here in Suwon but the talk is of the yellow dust which comes in the Spring from China. From the sounds of it, it is horrible. So stay tuned.

Ooh, very cool. Those look complicated! Yeah, I would think memorizing all the names would be very hard!

I was looking at a polymer clay book at the bookstore a couple of days ago and saw your Wizard of Oz shoe. Fun!

Helena: That shoe won an Honorable Mention in a Kato Polyclay contest. I'm a friend of Donna Kato.
