Hmmmm

Wow, where did the time go? I was in Seoul on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday this past week. I also was sick with flu like symptoms for a few days and I'm not sure if it was something I ate or just a bug I caught.

I bought this t-shirt last week at a Dunkin' Donuts in Seoul. If you haven't heard about the Dokdo Island controversy here in South Korea then just Google it and you can read all about it. Korea feels the islands belong to them but recently Japan, for whatever reason, said that they belong to Japan. There is a long, nasty history between Korea and Japan so this recent statement outraged Koreans.

The U.S. didn't help when they stated that the islands' rule was basically undetermined. But after hearing about the outrage, President Bush quickly had that changed back to Korea. The islands are very rugged with few Koreans living on them but the Koreans feel it is the eastern most part of Korea.

I was surprised to see Dunkin' Donuts selling these t-shirts. They are selling for 2900 won ($3 US) so I couldn't pass up such a bargain. The largest sized t-shirt is a large which is about a woman's size 6 in the U.S. Not my size but definitely worth it as a collector's item.

I eat breakfast at McDonald's in Seoul every Wednesday before class since that's my only meal of the day until dinner at 6:30pm. I noticed recently that my soda has been coming lid free. I asked my Korean friends about it and it's to cut back on waste, so basically its a "green" campaign. I thought they should keep the straw too since that is also plastic but I guess every little thing helps.
