A Visit to the House Used in the Korean Drama "Full House." - Part One

On Saturday, the girls took us to the house that was used for the taping of the Korean drama "Full House." They knew I had been dying to see it ever since I had watched the drama. The house was built for this drama and now serves as a tourist attraction. The drama was a huge hit in Korea when it first aired in 2004 and also was a huge hit in Taiwan and Japan. The production company later sold the house to a Taiwanese company and the house draws a lot of Taiwanese and Japanese tourists.

The house is located on an island near the Incheon International Airport. It is a 10-15 minute ferry ride from Sammok Harbor. When we got to the city of Incheon, we caught the 710 bus. The girls were not sure where to get off so Hannah went and talked to the bus driver as he drove. He asked if she was with the foreigners which she replied that she was and because of that he deviated off his bus route and delivered us as close as he could to the ferry launch. Hannah was really surprised he did this just because we are foreigners. How is that for service?!!
When you arrive at the launch, you have to fill out a form with all the names in your party and put it into a box. This is for their records in case the ferry sinks. We didn't have to pay until the ride back. Hellena, using the internet, had found a taxi service that provided a driver to take us to the house. He charged 30,000WON ($30US).

The picture above is of us walking to the ferry launch.

The ferry office.

A map of the islands.

Here comes our ferry!

Curt (hubby) with the girls, Hellena and Hannah. Can you believe Hannah wore high heels?

Momma with her baby. That's me in the foreground.

Lining up all the cars.

Another baby on board. As a former lifeguard, I was alarmed at how close the dad held the baby to the railing. One time I thought he was going to hang the baby over the railing but he just held him near the railing. I still watched poised to dive in if necessary. I was surprised that they didn't require children to wear flotation devices but then I've never seen a child in a car seat. I have seen children and adults wearing flotation devices when they swim in the ocean. It just doesn't make any sense to me.

A couple of cutie patooties!

This baby slept the whole trip to the island.

Cars neatly lined up on the ferry.

Our taxi driver was waiting for us when we arrived on the island.

Our taxi driver taking us to the Full House house.

The cost to tour the house is 5000WON ($5US). The girls didn't want to go in so they sat in a patio area next to the house. Can you tell I'm excited? This is the front door. It is seen a lot in the drama.

We had to put on slippers before we were allowed to walk around the house.

A picture looking out the back of the house.

That's me at the kitchen table, also seen a lot in the drama.

The kitchen sink where both Rain and Song Hye-Kyo spent time doing the dishes. After a Korean meal, there are A LOT of dishes.

The lead actors and actresses.

The wood wall in the living room. I was surprised to see that people had taken pieces from the wall.

Curt sitting on the couch where Rain actually sat!!

The window that both Rain and Song Hye-Kyo cleaned during the drama. Rain had Song Hye-Kyo clean the house constantly in the drama. He also had pet names for her like "rice cooker" and "poultry."

The computer desk where Han Ji-Eun (Song Hye-Kyo) spent time writing her novel.

The bathroom where both Rain and Song Hye-Kyo would brush their teeth. They had quite a few scenes where Rain and Song Hye-Kyo would be brushing their teeth. For the taping of the drama, they removed the mirror that is located above the sinks.

Funny, but there was no toilet in the bathroom. In fact, we didn't find one in the whole house. But there is a public one across the street.

Rain and Song Hye-Kyo .

The steps to the second floor.

Young-Jae's (Rain) bedroom.

In the drama, this is where a picture of Young-Jae (Rain) hung.

In case you haven't heard about this drama, here are a few songs that show scenes from the house. Tomorrow, Part 2.

What a beautiful house! (Doesn't seem particularly Korean, oddly.)

This is awesome. I was hooked to the drama as well, and still am...I have watched the show so many times now.. I am so jealous that you went to the house for real.. congrats..

The house looks a little worn out. I am worried why didn't they maintain it very well..I read on wikipedia, that there was rumor of a second season? Any news on that?

Once again, thanks for posting the pics and bringing back memories.

~A true fullhouse fan.
